There is one big issue – Telegram is commercial protocol and sooner or later – the company behind it will try to monetize their users with selling users data to third-party companies and governments. The only difference from Facebook (WhatsApp) is that there are not doing it right now (at least they claim that there are not doing it).

Signal is open-source and with privacy in mind. So there is no spying modules (so called “telemetry”) that every other commercial chat program have (including Telegram, Discord and of course the worst chat programs like Facebook WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger).

I think so too.

In fact, Telegram is virtually better than 98% of its alternative apps I can remember.
