Are you SURE the video calls are end-to-end encrypted? It was my understanding that the chat text was end-to-end, but the video was encrypted from each end-point to wire's servers. Also, I would like to know if the passwords are saved locally or on wire's servers. I think they have true native apps on mobile, but for desktops I think the apps are basically wrappers around the web interface, which is of course hosted on their servers. They seem to be an open and responsive company, which lends toward trusting them. They recently open-sourced the server-side code, and appear to be responsive to feedback and criticizms. Even so, I think vetting is especially important for communication platfoms that are purported to be secure. It is "sexy", which a lot of security-focused solutions are not. But as much as I welcome that, let's not forget to be clear on where trust lies in their security model.
